CCI recently had the pleasure of working alongside LeedsBID once again, helping with the transportation of some unusual cargo.
Our first collaboration with LeedsBID takes us back to 2019 where we assisted with the import of a number of animatronic dinosaur models from China, which captivated visitors across Leeds during the Leeds Jurassic Trail, the UK’s largest free trail of its kind. After their run, we also coordinated their careful transportation on to their new home.
LeedsBID approached us again with a new challenge; transporting oversized MONOPOLY tokens to New Jersey USA, for a special project. The eight tokens had featured in the BID’s hugely successful 2024 summer animation MONOPOLY Leeds Takeover, which saw over half a million people participate. These unique items required meticulous handling and packaging to ensure they arrived in pristine condition. The pieces, destined for Hasbro, represent an iconic part of board game history, and we are delighted that we got to play a role in their journey across the Atlantic.
This project holds a special connection for Carry Cargo as well, due to its ties with Leeds’ industrial heritage. The original version of MONOPOLY was printed by John Waddington Games, a company that once operated on the very site where CCI is based today. In 1994 when Waddington was acquired by Hasbro, it marked the end of an era, but the connection remains deeply significant, so helping transport these fantastic MONOPOLY pieces feels like a fitting tribute to this shared story for us.
We’re proud to have once again to have worked with LeedsBID and to play a part in connecting Leeds’ creative and industrial legacy with the wider world.
