Please see the latest operational update from our friends and partners in China. We are relieved to hear all our staff are unaffected by the coronavirus and all the necessary precautions are being implemented. Our thoughts and best wishes go out to all those affected.
Following on from the request for information from some of our clients, we and our partners in China though it would only be right to confirm the below following an update from our China Management Team:
Currently, none of our employees or their close relatives in China have been infected nor being suspected of carrying the coronavirus. Health and Safety guidelines, as well as preventive checks on their travelling during the Lunar New Year holidays, are being carried out. We are sending protective and monitoring equipment to all of our offices and an employee health emergency reporting system has been implemented.
The General Office of the State Council has announced the extension of the Chinese New Year holiday until February 2nd, however many businesses including our partners will further be extending office closures. So far, the specific arrangement of offices as follows:
Offices in Beijing, Tianjin, Dalian, Qingdao, Xiamen will resume work on 3rd February 2020 (Monday).
Offices in Shanghai, Suzhou, Nanjing, Chongqing, Wuhan, Ningbo, Guangzhou and Shenzhen offices will resume work on 10th February 2020 (Monday).
Based on the above constraints, our partners in China are currently planning a resumption of work in compliance with government guidelines, while activating online contact and remote operations management.
Ports, airports, rail and China customs are still operating as per normal in this holiday period (except Wuhan that remains largely locked down).
We are responding actively to the call of prevention and control of disease with two priorities at heart:
- Guaranteeing the health and safety of our employees and their families
- Limiting to the minimum the impact on our customers’ supply chain.
Please be aware that some shipping services will be affected during this period, and detailed info per mode of transport will be communicated in the coming days. We encourage you to be in touch with your account manager if you have any questions or concerns. We will of course continue to keep you updated as the situation evolves and will do our utmost to minimize the impact to your business.
