CARRIAGE OF HAZARDOUS GOODS

All goods classed as ‘Hazardous’ are subject to strict rules governing storage, packaging, labelling and compatibility. It is essential that the correct rules and regulations are followed in order to transport hazardous cargo safely and legally by Sea, Air and Road. Goods are classified under the following categories:

Class 4 – FLAMMABLE SOLIDS, SELF-REACTING SUBSTANCES, SOLID
DESENSITIZED EXPLOSIVES + SUBSTANCES LIABLE TO SPONTANEOUS
COMBUSTION
Class 5 – OXIDISING SUBSTANCES AND ORGANIC PEROXIDES
Class 6 – TOXIC SUBSTANCES AND INFECTIOUS SUBSTANCES
Class 7 – RADIOACTIVE MATERIAL
Class 8 – CORROSIVE SUBSTANCES
Class 9 – MISCELLANEOUS DANGEROUS SUBSTANCES AND ARTICLES

If you are unsure as to the status of any cargo you may wish to move please do not hesitate to ask, we are able to provide information concerning the classification, packing, labelling and shipping of any of the above categories. It is essential that any shipper of hazardous cargo appoints a Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor to ensure that packing, paperwork and carriage of said goods comply with International law.

Goods of different hazardous classes cannot always be packed or shipped together in order to minimise risk to the environment and all concerned parties. We have enclosed a compatibility table to offer a guideline should you have more than one class of hazard to ship at the same time.
